Perfect Day!  I got to spend the day with Johnny Russ today as no daycare and mom had to work.  Although it was pouring rain, we got a chance to play.  He is ENTHRALLED with the camera.  I couldn't decide which picture was better.  Aunty is a sucker for a serious face, but I know that mommy and the grandma's love a smiling face.  Little did they know that my left hand is holding Johnny back from coming toward me and the camera and getting the stuffy from my mouth...thus the laughing so hard.

Messina only sleeps on her sidel like this, feet out,  when she is really tired.  Busy day yesterday, and I was busy working on computer and she was tired and bored (I wouldn't let her sit on my desk chair so maybe a bit mad too).  Liked the focus on this one, took a few different angles.  Again, it was taken at 7pm at night, no flash, and ISO was 2000.  Bit of grain...but I like it.  And YES her nails need cutting!!!

Busy day of cleaning, errands, and computer stuff.  Need to clean up some hard drive space :)  When all of a sudden I realized how late it was and Messina really needed a walk AND I needed pictures for Jan 2nd.  We went out to our favourite secret spot on Veteran's Memorial, but it was after 4pm and getting dark quickly.  I decided to test out some high ISO's on my d300s.  This shot is at ISO 3200, SS 250 and F-stop 5.6 (was using my 55-200 zoom lens and zooming in so couldn't go any lower).  It is grainy...but love the overall effect on her fur.  For a person's face may not have worked, but for this shot, I think the grain in the shadows and especially in the bokeh is quite nice.  Let me know what you think.

Hmmmmm....Starbucks.  My drug of choice.  My vice - Venti Extra Hot Non-Fat Tazo Chai Tea Latte with a stir.  Not everyone makes it right.  The manager at "my" store says that it is all to do with the calibration of pumps.  All I know is that it is sooo good.  My sister brought me one when they came home on New Year's Day after a night out.  Just sitting around drinking Starbucks and planning dinner for Ukrainian Christmas, nothing better.

I had the perfect New Year's date, my nephew Johnny Russ.  No where else I would rather be.  Not a huge fan of New Year's as a whole.  My sister and brother-in-law had a date night and an overnighter at a hotel (practicing for when I will have Johnny when the new baby arrives in March).  Johnny is 18 months old and becoming increasingly entertaining.  I was playing around with my flash in the bathroom--also my only month old Nikon d300s which has the most amazing ISO capability---obviously that yucky bathroom light at night.  He is such a ham and has the most infectious giggle ever, I think you can almost here it when you look at these pictures.  He cracks me up!!  Also just another one of him looking at the toys he just tossed out of the bathtub.
